Some of these regular polygons can be used to tile or cover a plane ˇ made into tesselations.

Some regular polygons like the pentagon and septagon can't be used to cover a plane.

The plane covering polygons can be used to approximate shapes,
for example a computer printer will use squares to draw bitmaps approximating different shapes

This is the power of Legos˘. They can be used as three dimensional bit maps to approximate any shape.
Replicas of the Statute of Liberty, the Empire State Building and other well known objects have been made with Legos˘.

Just as the shape of the letter e above can be approximated with squares and triangles
three dimensional objects can be approximated with rectangular bricks and also with octahedron- tetrahedron bricks.

Buckerminster Fuller claims the octet structures are stronger (see the Fuller link at the bottom of this page)
The octet system also lends itself to building some very strange and hypnotic shapes
as Escher's print Flatworms demonstrates (at the beginning of my Index page)

The power to make virtually any shape with 3-D bitmaps is why rectangular bricks work so well in construction.
As a toy, my blocks would acquaint future architects, builders, etc. with a different way.

And I am hoping that one day my panels could be used in  construction of real homes and buildings.
